In only the second month of 1962, American children and adults alike had their eyes glued to the skies or their television sets, marveling at the idea of men in space. It was the kickoff to a great year that featured movies, TV shows, cars and other things that kept us moving forward and looking ahead to what was coming next.

Film lovers had a great year in 1962, whether they were watching Harper's Lee's words come to life in to Kill a Mockingbird or basking in the grandeur of Best Picture Winner Lawrence of Arabia. When James Bond first appeared in Dr. No, some of us met a character we still follow to this day and who can still inspire arguments over who played him best.

When you turned on your TV in 1962, it was easy to find classic westerns such as Bonanza, Gunsmoke and the Virginian. It was just as easy to keep things on the lighter side with The Flintstones, The Jetsons and the Beverly Hillbillies. One of the most significant moments in TV news history happened in 1962 with the advent of the CBS Evening News and the face and voice of "The most trusted man in America." No hints, you should know who that is.

People who needed cars for their family or who wanted to show off their personality had no shortage of choices in 1962. It was a great year to pile the whole family in the station wagon and head to the drive-in or on family vacation. Some of those cars were so big you had to count the children when you got home. It was also a great year for muscle and sports cars like the Spyder, and the most popular Chevy Impala was all over the roads.

You can't relive 1962 without a quick trip down music lane. Three of the top five songs on the charts belonged to Elvis Presley, and the Rolling Stones formed in London and changed music forever. Patsy Cline, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra and other artists we still listen to today made it a great year in music.

Now that we've jogged your memory, take the quiz and find out just how well you really know 1962.
