When Michael Jackson was still in his prime and the first episode over the wildly successful cartoon, the Simpsons, was played, we have definitely come a long way from 1989.
When Harry Met Sally, Honey found out he Shrunk the Kids, The Little Mermaid made a massive splash in the box office, and we went Back to the Future for the second time, although 1989 was literally the end of an era, it certainly made sure the 80s went out with an epic bang. Back when Duran Duran, Madonna, Garth Brooks, Black Box, R.E.M., Cher, Depeche Mode, and Paula Abdul were the still the New Kids on the Block, the late 80s was a time in which artists of all kinds were being embraced and new styles and genres of music began to emerge.
When color block fashions and Air Jordan's were still taking its first trip around the block, stonewash jackets were all the rage and high-waisted, snug-fitting jeans were all the rage, 1989 was a great time for fashion, entertainment, and just embracing the uniqueness of individuals. Nevertheless, fads such as carrying boom boxes, big hair, break dancing, Converse All-Stars, friendship bracelets, and many other fads were swept the nation with one fell swoop. When the TV was dominated by shows such as Dragon Ball Z, Quantum Leap, Family Matters, Cops, Coach, and Doogie Howser, some major cult classic TV shows were birthed during this time period.
