The 1970s gave us a huge variety of television shows and movies with recognizable faces. Some of these actors and actresses had been around for a while, and others were new to the big or small screens but went on to entertain us for decades. Like anyone else though, sometimes the last names of these famous people escape us. How many times have you sat around thinking, "Douglas, Douglas something. I KNOW the answer." is it easier to remember these surnames when the person is famous? Let's take a stroll through the 70s first to help jog your memory.

The 1974 film Chinatown featured a familiar face who was nominated for Best Actor. He did not win, but he went on to win four other Oscars for films such as One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Terms of Endearment. One of his costars went on to win her own Oscar for the film Network.

You can't think about the 1976 movie Taxi Driver without seeing the faces of Hollywood and television royalty. The stars and costars of this classic film have so many Oscars, Emmys and other accolades that it's hard to keep track of them all. To this day we still see some of these faces in films or in the credits in director and producer roles.

Speaking of Hollywood royalty, not many have ties like those of the actress who got her start in the 1978 breakout horror film Halloween. Her father Tony and her mother Janet had their own string of movies and awards. Not only did Halloween become a franchise, this actress starred in several other horror films and then proved her chops as a comedic actress.

When it came to already familiar actors and those we got to know for decades to come, few movies can compare to the 1972 film The Godfather. The faces are easy, but with common first names like Al, Robert, Diane and James you might have to work a bit to come up with those last names.

You may think you know the actors and actresses we're talking about, but are you sure you know their last names? The 1970s featured so much established and new talent that this challenge may be a little more difficult than you thought!
