Indeed, the 70s were highly instrumental in terms of making professional football such a big deal in the United States. This was the decade that the NFL officially began to take center stage during the 70s, following a merger between the AFL and NFL, which served to entice the whole country to tune in.

Either way, for many pro football fans, the 1970s represent much simpler times. Back when the league was more about talent and people only tuned in out of sheer love of the game. When the likes of Mel Blount, Alan Page, and Earl Campbell were dominating. When Ken Stabler, Bob Lilly, and "Mean" Joe Greene reigned supreme. When the world was first introduced to the talents of football icons such as Roger Staubach, Terry Bradshaw, and Walter Payton. And when O.J. Simpson was much more well known for his athletic prowess than, well, you know. In fact, he gave the league its first 2000-yard season, while Bradshaw became iconic for his two Super Bowl MVP Performances.

Considered to be the "golden age" of football by a wide variety of fans across the country, many people preferred to watch football in the 70s due to the fact that there were fewer brands associated with it and thus, less politics involved. Nevertheless, as much as many of us want things to stay the same forever, this simply isn't possible.
