Pat Summit, or Patricia Sue Nemmit, passed away on June 29, 2016 at the young age of 64. During her career, she had 1,098 wins, which is the most in NCAA basketball history. She died of early-onset Alzheimer’s disease, and was also forced to retire early. Her teams won eight women’s NCAA Championships, and she was bested only by UCLA’s men’s NCAA basketball team’s coach John Wooden, who won 11 Championships.
