Correct Answer: Pablo Picasso

Pablo Ruiz Picasso was a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, and theatre designer who spent most of his adult life in France. One of the most influential artists of the 20th century, he is known for co-founding the Cubist movement, the invention of constructed sculpture, the co-invention of collage, and for the wide variety of styles that he helped develop and explore. Among his most famous works are the proto-Cubist Les Demoiselles d'Avignon (1907), and the anti-war painting Guernica (1937), a dramatic portrayal of the bombing of Guernica by German and Italian air forces during the Spanish Civil War.

Clint has taught literature and composition classes at a community college for the past two decades. He loves watching his undergraduate students gain an appreciation for the themes and ideas that authors share in their literature. His exams often include open-ended questions that allow students to share their favorite parts of the stories they read. Clint contributes trivia about authors and books, both popular works and some that are more obscure. He hopes that his quizzes encourage participants to track down some of the writers and titles he mentions in his questions so they can explore literary treasures they never knew about before.
